About

As a narrative meditation, The Long View seeks to consider the full arc of human life as worthy of deep consideration and celebration.

The Long View is a blog about aging, caring, and reflection that I started in 2025 after years of quietly grappling, overwhelmingly at times, with the anticipatory grief of losing my parents.

While the thought of losing one's mother and father, or any beloved elder, is harrowing, obsessing over this topic as I have for most of my life inspired me to explore it widely, as a reader, writer, and seeker of peace.

Over the years I've discovered an array of creative thinkers, all of whom uniquely convey through their chosen medium the liberating idea that mortality – death – is not an error.

That there is no right or wrong way of aging.

That the end of life is a natural transition – a crossing point of reunification with one's spiritual source.

I've gravitated toward the works of Ram Dass, Parker J. Palmer, Belden C. Lane, and others that traverse inner and outer landscapes, mortal and immortal realms, and infinite planes of consciousness to put this small life into perspective.

My goal with this blog is to share stories, and reflect on rich material that not only speaks to our insecurities and fear around loss, but also the hope, joy, wisdom, and gratitude for life that confronting aging and considering the inevitable affords us.

I especially want to be present for other millennials as our generation transitions into caregiver roles in a complex society with displaced values around time and human worth.

As a narrative meditation, The Long View seeks to consider the full arc of human life as worthy of deep consideration and celebration.
